Manager III Space and Airborne Systems –  Raytheon Company

Kristy Mandigo, Manager III Space Systems Manager over Mechanical CAD Design, her previous Management III position was, within the Product Integrity Department as part of Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Center at Space and Airborne Systems.  Mandigo was appointed this Mechanical CAD Design position in October 2018. Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), with 2017 sales of $25 billion and 64,000 employees, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions. Raytheon is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Before her current role as a Manager, Mandigo held a Mechanical Engineer position in the RTSC sector, then moved up to serve as product line Programmatic Integrated Product Team Lead and Configuration Analyst of the SAS’ Airborne Early Warning Systems program area, specifically MP-RTIP and ASARS programs. Mandigo started at Raytheon in 2003.

The Mechanical CAD Design Manager is responsible for design requirements, coordinating program managers and engineering in preparing design reviews, and presenting engineering solutions to Raytheon leadership teams, customer management, and consultants. The position requires leadership to understand tasks from the pre-proposal phase through conceptual design, preliminary and critical design build, test and delivery of complex design.  This includes training and onboarding materials for the Space Systems Mechanical Departments as well as the CMMI, IPDS, DGS flow down requirements for the Space Systems directorship.  As a leader, harnessing techniques to improve critical thinking is important.  Rotating job tasks has given her confidence in identifying the “real” problems before rushing to solutions.

Mandigo is a strong supporter of Raytheon Diversity and Inclusion goals. She is the Global Finance VP for Raytheon Alliance for Diverse Abilities. She is also establishing the Business Leadership Network for Southern California. In addition to her work at Raytheon, Kristy’s personal story has been published in Diversity in STEAM Magazine and websites globally, including Raytheon.com.  She is a recognized face in diversity internal and external to the Raytheon community.

Mandigo has been a Subject Matter Expert and Trainer for her technical Expertise at Raytheon. She is also affiliated with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Untied States Business Leadership Network, Raytheon Management Club, and the Raytheon Innovation Center for work on a Patent. Her Initiative is to retain, mentor and focus on people.

Mandigo has been honored with multiple awards ranging from Raytheon Technical Honor (RTN), Women of the Year (NWA), Women of Distinction (State of CA), Diversity and Inclusion (UTD).

Mandigo earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) at Cedarville University and a Master’s in Business Administration and Technical Management through Physics University.  She also has certificates in Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, Advanced Configuration Management, and Program Management.
